What's an affordable laser sight?
« on: October 18, 2010, 11:28:14 PM »
I just bought my first handgun and I'd like to have a laser sight to go along with it. I don't know much about handguns so I don't even know where to start or what to look for. I need all the help I can get.

Thanks,
Aaronn

IMO there are no workable "Cheap" laser sights. A usable one will set you back $200>. Laser Max and Crimson Trace are a couple of good ones. Don't waste money on the Chinese junk.

I don't know what's "affordable" for you. My only experience has been with a set of Crimson Trace laser grips on a Ruger SP-101 .357 mag. The laser greatly reduced my group size compared to the open sights and was really great in dim light where I could hardly see the gun, much less the sights.
The story of David & Goliath only demonstrates the superiority of ballistic projectiles over hand weapons, poor old Goliath never had a chance.

I put a set of C.T. laser grips on my 2" 686.  They're really great.  For the close and personal encounters we all prepare for, I don't think a "good" laser can be beat.  If ya can afford it , go for it.  The Crimson Trace grips set me back around low two Hundreds I believe....that was shipping and tax to my door.  Don't forget they will increase the value of what ever weapon they're on....along with peace of mind.

CT is what I have . If you get a sight remember to be able to use the gun with out them as battries go dead at the worst of times.
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

I have CT and Lazermax as well as a lazer max copy off ebay.

The CT is really good as you can get one for most guns but its expensive.

The Lazermax works as well but you need a rail.

The ebay copy works as well but you nee4 a rail and it cost me $39.

They all work on my 380;s and 45 after several hundred rounds. I like the Lazermax style as you can pop it on or off with your left thumb in a normal hold.

+1 for Shootall. Practice point shooting. In an emergency you won't use your sights.
