my 38-55 score with a nice fat doe
« on: November 24, 2010, 09:57:59 AM »
I took a doe on Sunday Morning with the 38-55 the shot about 75 yards
broadside funny the deer stood in front of a large old maple tree and after the shot placement with peep sights I took out the heart and she never took a step.I went over to the spot and noticed a fresh mark on the tree bark so I took out my knife and this is what I found
The lead bullet BHN of 10 with IMR 3031 33.0 held together excellent .I weight it to be 215 gr. the original bullet weight is 255 gr sarco mould

Congrats. on a nice doe, looks like the 38-55 did a good job.
an unloaded wepon is equal to the same mass and volume as a rock.

Well done! It still does quite a job after all these years.

Good job buddy. The 38-55 is like a Timex... just keeps tickin' ;D
I had a 38-55 handi once and foolishly sold it. I'd like to get another one.

Hey great job!!

You've been through a bunch over the past few years - great to see you come out on top!

Hard to believe those plain ol' cast boolits can still get the job done - after all millions of buffalo were made into believers.

Hopefully, I'll get to educate a deer this year with my 444 Handi and a 290gr RF cast from a custom Lee mold.

Hang in there, Lonewolf!!
