Daughters first buck !!

Hi Guys , Thought I would let you know that the .223 bull barrel that I got from Jimbo scored my daughters first buck. She had not hunted with my son and I for 13 years do to medical school and work after! She called this year and decided to go along in South Dakota. Opening morning a very nice heavy horned hart shaped 4x4 came chaseing a doe and she decided to shoot ... 1 shot from the little .223 and the buck took two steps and piled up. We were backing her up with .270 win incase the deal went south.. but their was no problem with the single shot handi or the .223 !! I hand loaded some 55 gr win. canalure bullets down to about 3050 fps. and  it blew right threw the lungs and one front shoulder at 70 yards. I think we have a new hunting partner againe after 13 years of waiting. Hope you all are haveing a great season............. Mark

That's awesome Mark... congrats to all of you. I bet she was excited to take a buck after not hunting for so long. I've taken deer with a 223 and it'll definitely do the trick with proper placement and a good bullet.
I've had a good season so far too... I got a buck opening morning with my brand new 44 mag. ;D

Great story, That Jimbo feller is getting a reputation for passing along good barrels,!
We got a 7-08 from him 2 years ago that's a darn good shooter and has helped us harvest too,  ;D

 My younger daughter loves deer hunting. Has something to do with her having the biggest buck in the family so far ::)

She may not have hunted for thirteen years but she can still shoot.

Thanks guys for the congrats !!! She is definatly going to be a full time hunter from here on out! I will try to get pic,s up latter as today brought some sad news to our family . My sister has finaly lost a long battle with cancer. At a time like this it makes me realize how important family , freinds, and the holidays realy are!! I wish you all the best the holidays can bring.........Mark
