Pallet wood stocks on a SB1 44 mag?
« on: November 27, 2010, 04:50:13 AM »
Boys,  may be a dumb question, but will the pallet wood stocks, and/or laminate stocks fit on the new SB1 44 mag/357 mag?  Reason I ask, I think I'm going to get one for next deer season, here in Indiana, but really don't like synthetic stocks[although I have one on my ML].  If they will swap out, I think I will try to find a nice laminate stock and forend, and sell the synthetic.

Hello MD, I have swapped sb-1 and sb-2 stocks, wood and synthetic, and they worked perfectly. As you know, a little forearm fitting may be required even with the stock that came with the gun.

GOOD SHOOTING!

+1 on what Slufoot said.  You can put anything you want on them, just be sure the stock bolt doesn't enter the frame far enough to interfere with the hammer.

What they said, the stock bolt on the new style checkered stock is 5" long, you'll need a  3/8"-24 x4" cap screw for the wood stock, available from your local well stocked hardware store like Ace or True Value, or add a stack of washers(10mm metric work because they fit in the stock bolt hole) so the bolt doesn't interfere with hammer movement.  ;)

Thanks boys.  I'll tale it all under advisement.
