Model 97 bbl. length

I am interested in a Model m97 .357/9mm. and trying to decide on 5.5 or 4.25 length. I have a model 97 .45 in a 5.5 and like it very much, but I like the looks of the shorter bbl. I will mainly be shooting the 9mm. Any input will be appreciated, and a merry christmas to all. Thanks, makilly

The 4.25" barrel allows very little light on each side of the .125" wide front sight in the rear sight notch. I prefer the 5.5" barrel, personally.

I have the 97 in 44 spl with the 4.25 inch bbl.  It is just about perfect for carrying and shooting with that barrel.  IMHO.

I have the 4.25" .357 and like it quite a bit, I have no trouble with the sights, other than I would prefer a patridge front blade.
My barrel slugs .358" FWIW.

That's a tough one...I have Model 97s in both barrel lengths and it's hard to express a preference over either length.  I like short barreled handguns for their portability, so I guess if I had to choose, I'd probably go with the 4.25 inch.  However, there are really no drawbacks to whichever one you choose.
