remington 700 CDL SF in 257 roberts
« on: November 08, 2010, 12:07:50 PM »
Hello all,

Just recieved notice I had the winning bid in on gunbroker for this item. I've been wanting another bolt action in 257 bob or 250 savage. I mailed the MO & ffl just a few minnuits ago.
Hope these new remington triggers are not as bad as some people say they are..

Regards

Im a big model 700 fan and have two of the newer ones with the new trigger and it my opinion it SUCKS! I cant ajust either of then down below about 4 lbs and as they came from the factory they were about 6lb and had alot of creap. Give me that old DANGEROUS ::) trigger any day. By the way let us know how it shoots. I too need a new 257 and am tired of buying 257s that are lemons (rugers) I need to find one of the limited run classics they did years ago. They were built on a long action instead of the short action that the cdl uses.

I'd opt to get the CDL with the short action and just put another trigger in it if you can't get the X-mark Pro to your liking.  I have one of those Classics you talk about and it it a fine shooter, but in my opinion, they should have put it in a short action instead.  I have a standard (some say dangerous trigger) available if you want it.  It came out of my VLS when we put the Rifle Basix in it.  Only thing is you will have to get a safety for it; we just reused the one off the old trigger on the Rifle Basix.

I like the new triggers but I'm not that picky.

personaly with a 257 id opt for a long action anyday. Most 120s especially the preium bullets are so long they take up to much space in the case when bullets have to be seated to short action lenght.

I recently bought a 700 SPS SS in 7mm-08.  Trigger was almost perfect right out of the box.  Just over 3lbs with no creep.  A friend of mine was so impressed with it, he bought a CDL in the same caliber, trigger was excellent as well.  I guess it is luck of the draw and I was prepared to buy a new trigger, but it was not necessary.
