Encore Switching Barrels ???
« on: November 28, 2010, 12:48:11 PM »
Everything I read about switching barrels on Encore frame states I will need to make small adjustments to zero. This is third year I have switched my pro hunter 209X50 to pro hunter 300 win mag. Twice a year after swap load bench, gun and target drive to range set up 100 yards BANG 2" high dead center! ;D I have never made adjustments and gun is dead on. Is this common or am I lucky with frame to barrel on these two barrels? ??? I have two other barrels in 270 win and 22-250 they have there own frame so can't compare with any others. So has anyone else had this happen when switching barrels or is it more common to adjust scope?????????????

I have Contenders so this is suspect from the start.  I shoot the combo I am going to hunt with prior to hunting.  It gives me confidence in the gun and ammo as well as my own ability.  Since the scope is mounted to the barrel I have never thought I would have to change the scope settings and I never have.  I use the same forend and spacers to float the barrel, and my hinge pins are all within spec as well as frames and barrels.  I have never had a problem, but YMMV.

I have G2s and Encores. I sometimes get "switchitis", changing barrels several
times in one session. I don't remember having to adjust a scope unless I had
a different load to try.

This year I picked up a G2 walnut stock set and removed the composit set and installed the walnut set took it out and shot it and it was dead on. I switch barrels on my TCR and it is also dead on So I would think that you would not have any problems if you dont mess with the scope but again I do like to check it but I am lucky in that I can shoot here on my farm on my own range.
