I am eyeballing a 1962 vintage 99 in 308 win. It is about 95% except for a couple of light, small patches of surface rust that appears to be the type that would mostly scrub off with bronze wool. Wood is excellent, no major dings. Only slight small handling marks and original butt. Factory drilled and tapped but apparently never scoped. They are asking $350 and I should be able to get them down a little less.
I have planned on getting a 99 for some time and this has all the features that I want (walnut, cut checkering, mag counter, drilled/tapped, nice but not TOO nice).
What is current value of this rifle??
How well does the tang safety work with a mounted scope??? Hard to reach??
The same store had a Weaver 4X steel tubed scope for $15 in perfect shape and I already have an old style, square cornered Redfield base and rings set aside. It's calling to me
