How do you determine kinetic energy at 100 yards??
« on: December 10, 2010, 02:51:21 AM »
Im shooting a TC Black Diamond(not the extended version)100 grains of Hodgsen pellets, and some sort of 295 gr lead sabot.Ive taken deer before with this combo.Ive got everything sighted in at 50 yards now.Should I leave it there or try resighting at 100 yard. Will 100 gr of pellets be sufficient at 100 yard with the 295s.If I site in at 100 how high would I be shooting at 50 yards.Or conversely if I stay sighted in at 50 yards, how low would I be shooting at 100 yards.Thanks.

http://www.biggameinfo.com/BalCalc.aspx  Here is a easy to use ballistics calculator.  You have more than enough energy to take deer with your load out to about 175-200 yards. If sighted in at 50 your probably one to two inches low at 100. If you zero at 100 you are probably a inch high at 50.
