scope mount

I have a mossberg 195 that I have been shooting slugs out of with great accuracy. I would like to mount a scope/red dot to this gun .
I need to know if there is any way to mount a scope base using the 3/8 dovetail allready on the gun . I dont want to d/t the gun , because  I only paid $ 15.00 for it in the first place .

Try http://www.b-square.com/ to see if they make one for your shotgun. They use existing holes for mounting.

B-square has a mount conversion kit - 3/8" dovetail to Weaver mounts.   

To answer smoke's question, YES....... look up 3/8" dovetail scope rings.   There are plenty in every price range, one-piece or two.

Edit.....  changed my original post.   I was under the impression that b-square made only saddle mounts.    :P

what I am looking for is a scope mount that I can replace the "rear sight " with
these guns have a solid rear sight that sits in a 3/8 dovetail on the very front of the reciever. I am looking for something to mount in that location . Sort of like a cantilever mount on most pump guns .

The weight of the scope and rings might be too much load for the dovetail unless the base is attached some other place also. Don't know for sure but shotguns are known for tearing up mounts and scopes. ear

A picture of the top of your receiver would help, but after looking at a Google image search of "Mossberg 195",  is the dovetail the entire length of the receiver or is it only under the rear sight?   It differs. 

If it's the entire length, there are one piece scope mounts like :



....that you can place ahead of the ejection port to mount a scope.    If the dovetail is only as long as the rear sight...you probably don't have enough rail to support a mount.   You would only have enough rail for one ring, and I wouldn't try that on a slug gun.

A dovetail is generally considered to be a 3/8" long triangular base slot that a sight can be drifted left to right & back in.

 A reciever that is grooved for a scope like a 22 rim fire has 2 groves that run down the top of the reciever that a clamp type scope base can clamp onto, much like a weaver base or picatinnie (sp) rail. The base in the above post might clamp onto reciever grooves, I can't see it that well.

I gotcha.   I have always referred to the "grooved receiver" as a "dovetail".   My mistake.
