 I have a Savage Arms 24s-d .22LR/.410 with NO serial number. Does anyone know how to find out when this gun was made? If you are able to help please do.

The Model 24-S (side lever) was made from 1964 to 1971, but since yours has no SN, it would have been made prior to the passage of the Gun Control Act of 1968 (GCA-68).

Savage marked all their guns with a year date code stamped into the barrel bottom or receiver - a letter within a circle, starting with "A" in 1949, and ending with "X" in 1970.

R= 1964
S= 1965
T= 1966
U= 1967
V= 1968

Thanks for the help. My gun has 47T stamped on it so it would have been made in 1966. That was a lot of help. Thanks again.

I have one of those Stevenses that was in the family for years. Still in decent shape but the hammer selector button and associated misc. are missing. Can locate replacement parts, but am wondering if anyone out there "specializes" in these; would pay a reasonable price for a reputable gunsmith to restore it, as I have other winter projects...

I have a 22mag/.410 that has no serial # or those letters. There's an E,J and a 1 under the barrel. Does anyone know what year it was made? Thanks, Mike

FWIW, The .22 Mag itself wasn't invented/introduced until 1959, and the Savage 24 was the first gun chambered for it, that year.

Further information, and Savage parts, seletor, etc may be avalable through  www.savage24.com
