Hi All,

Due to a rip off being tried by the official importer here in the UK who supplied a box of .280 Rem 140 Gr Premier Boat Tail ammo that was made 4th March 1998 according to Remington and which was supplied last month as new by the importer here. They charged me $64.63US for the box of 20 rounds.

Today I collected the replacement ammo which is :-

Express Core-Lokt 280 Remington 165 Gr Core-Lokt SP R280R2

According to the box flap this is a bit newer being only 5 years and 11 months old being made according to the flap in January 2005. The Importers have taken 2 weeks to get this box tot eh shop for me to collect and said it wa smore expensive so wanted more money. Neither the shop not I agreed with this so this box of normal Core-Lokt has cost $64.63US. They claimed that price was the price for the old ammo as it was the price when they got it into stock in 2000  :o and I think that they are not only lieing but they are trying to rip me off.

however unless I can find the price that it really was back in 1998 I am stumped. So any of you guys happen to have an old Remington catalogue witht eh price in it. Or a 98 magazine? I only need the price and not the whole ad.

Here's hoping  ;)

I don't buy any factory ammo and have reloaded for over twenty years but I would venture that there is no way that stuff cost more than thirty bucks in the states back in 98. even if it is the deluxe coreloct stuff with premium boolits.
Though taken from established manufacturers' sources and presumed to be safe please do not use any load that I have posted. Please reference Hogdon, Lyman, Speer and others as a source of data for your own use.

The reason for the factory ammo in this case was the final check on my chambering job. The factory ammo had to be a very slight crush fit so that normal .280 Remington ammunition could be used if required or I simply wanted to.

I began loading for the pistols then moved on the rifle when I brought my first one which was a BSA CF2 Stutzen in 270 win and that was nearly 30 years ago now.

The other reason for buying and using factory ammunition is in stalking (Deer Hunting). Here in the UK tere is no public land hunting and as we don't own enough land I normally do my stalking by the let day or outing. Some of these places insist on factory ammunition being used. Some are also stipulating the use of Sound Moderators too so I have a couple of rifles tht I can fit one too JIC  ;) My 6 pt Roe Buck shot this year was done using Federal Fusion 150 Gr in 270 Win and it performed well. I have a bit in stock so I am ready to go and will be picking up a couple more boxes so I am set for a few years while I can get it at a reasonable price.
