rear sight removal

of all the Contender barrels I have owned..I have never needed to remove a rear sight from a barrel.  Would someone please walk me thru..looks straight forward..but wouldn't want to screw something up.  Its a 14" .35 Rem barrel.

Loosen the elevation screw all the way, drive the hinge pin out and remove the base screws........in that order. Be careful of the springs.

To reinstall, attach the base with it's screws, seat the springs and lower the sight down on the base while making sure to capture the sight face/crotch under the lip on the base. Reseat the hinge pin and then install the elevation screw. The sight is best installed upside down to allow the springs to rest in their seats during assembly.

You should know that in many cases you'll find screws that have thread sealer on them. If you have the sight leaf removed and the base screws are sealed you can use a match or lighter to break the bond. Invert the barrel and heat the screws. It's better than breaking a screw.
