Palin goes to Haiti
« on: December 10, 2010, 04:15:39 AM »
Well, I guess here is were I have a difference of opinion. Sarah and Todd are going down to see what can be done as far a humanatarian aid can be done. Well, I did a quick check, and over 2 billion dollars from many different country's,including over 2 million from Ireland, in the last couple years. One of the candidate's that's running for president, has advocated picking up guns to settle the dispute over voting, because the percent was so close, he feels there was cheating.Probably
That entire country is nothing more than a welfare state. So much has been handed to them, all they expect is for other country's to give them money, food, whatever. Time to pull out, and let them either stand or fall on their own.
Sarah could be doing this just for political reasons. Or maybe she's just a better Christian than me. I wish her well, but I think she's wasting her time.  gypsyman

Just a farce to try and show that a republican can have compassion to get some dems to switch over to her.

Sometimes you have to look at a situation and realize that anything you try to do isn't going to help. Humanitarian aid has been going into that country for decades and it doesn't make a bit of difference. Sad to say, but something is fundamentally wrong. The aid only seems to enrich the people that steal the goods and money, and it keeps a lot of US charities in business. It doesn't seem to get to the people who need it. If Palin sees enough to realize that, then maybe she can help re-focus the debate on Haiti away from this policy of unlimited aid without results.

Sarah is highly motavated by her Christian beliefs.  Therefore I think this trip has two motives.  She honestly wants to see, and find out what can help.  This trip also helps keep her in the limelight so she can continue being effective in what ever endeaver she undertakes next.  If she should decide to run for persident she will now be able to answer the questions Katie Curric asked in a manner that can not be used against her.

As for Haiti, The only way anything will ever happen there, will be for someone from the outside to came in and take control.  Corruption and graft is too wide spread for anything to happen from within.  99% of the country is totally Illiterate.  The kids are too busy scratching for food everyday, and are not ablt or concerned about attending school.  They have not had an effective government since Baby Doc was run out of the country.  A dictator was better than what they have had since.  That is why so many Hatians are screaming for the US to annex them.  Now we have given them Choleria.

I have a good friend Kolbyjornsen, that was born and raised in Haiti.  Kolby was raised on a large farm up in the mountains near the border with the Dominicain Republic.  He had 17 brothers and sisters.  They raised their crops and sold them to people in the Dominicain Republic.  Few Hatian people had the money to buy their produce and livestock.  They were fairly well off, and his father was known and recognized by Papa Doc.  In other words he did what he needed to do to stay in good favor with the Dictator.  It was a sad day for Kolby's family when Baby Doc took over, and another sad day when Baby Doc was kicked out of the country.  Kolby had moved to the US and enlisted in the Air Force before any of that had happened.  Shortly after Baby Doc left people from the cities came and started cutting down the trees on their farm, and stealing their crops.  Two of Kolby's brothers, and his Father were killed trying to stop the tree cutters.  Today the family has left, and the farm is no more.  The removal of the trees let the Hurricane rains wash away the fertial soil.  The house was stripped and torn down by looters from down below as Kolby calls them.  His mother and several siblings were still living there when the looters came.  Today the surviving members of Kolby's family have either moved to Europe or other islands in the Carribian.  Kolby was the only one that came to the US.  Kolby tried to sponser his Mother and a sister to come to the US, but they refused to come here.  Kolby finished college and became a US citisen before getting out of the Air Force.
Where is old Joe when we really need him?  Alaska Independence    Calling Illegal Immigrants "Undocumented Aliens" is like calling Drug Dealers "Unlicensed Pharmacists"
What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

I commend her for her generosity. I agree with gypsyman though, maybe its time to settle things on their own. There will always be rich and poor, sometimes just among peoples, sometimes whole nations. not anybody's fault, just the way it is. They are surrounded by water, if they do not want to fish to feed their families, or develop tourism to bring in money, why do people insist they remain a welfare case? The wind blew alot here the other day, if you care to contribute to the Pat/Rick Fence Farm and Tractor Fund, please send your hundreds of thousands of dollars in contributions too:........ ::)
