.30 cal mold

Veral, just purchased a Stevens 200 in .308. Read some good reports on the gun, and I got this one at a real good price,NIB for $250. So, I thought I'ld turn it into go to gun.
I've got 1/2 doz of your molds for my pistols, but never one for a rifle. I was looking at your on line catalog, as well as one you sent me years ago. I've kinda narrowed down my choice to either the 160gr. sp., or you make a 170gr. flat nose. Since my shots will most likely be 300yds or so, I'm leaning towards the 170gr. (90% of my shooting will be just plinking) I havn't slugged the barrel yet, I believe it to have a 1-10 twist. Any thoughts or suggestions?? Thanks for a top notch product. gypsyman

  Most of the 308 slugs I've measured have a fairy short throat and of coarse the ctg neck is short.  So, having a throat slug in hand  is pretty much mandatory before I can make a suggestion as to bullet weight.  Off hand though, I'm going to recommend that you choose my SP.8 nose profile which is a much more streamlined nose than the SP bullets in my catalog, but a slightly shorter ogive than the pictured bullets on my website home page.  That is a SP1R, and winner of several national bench rest records, CBA.  I make any of them in any reasonable weight asked for. with whatever lube groove arrangement is needed to get the customers disired performance from the gun he is using.   Tech stuff which I decide on when setting up to cut the mold, or with the customer aforetime.
