Range trip with my 25-06 Ultra...
« on: January 17, 2011, 09:42:20 AM »

Three shot group at 100 yards with Federal 115 grain Nosler Partitions... .75" I think I'm done looking for a bullet in this gun . I did shoot both the 120 and 100 grain Core-Lokts,,, nothing to brag about on those... I think the 120's shot about 1.75 and the 100's around 2.75.

Nice group. I've always had good luck with Federal ammo.

Mine 26" shoots the Federal old red box  117gr so well that I do not reload for it. My 20 " shoots the 75 gr sierra hps very well with a dose of IMR 4064 (5/8")

Same here, have never reloaded for the 25-06, the Rem 120gr and Hornady 117gr BTSP shoot just as well as the Fed 115gr partition.  ;D

I have always been fascinated with the 25-06.
If the ecomomy ever improves and I can sock some bucks away, I might be able to someday get me one.

Flinthead, if I shot factory ammo in 25-06 these days, that's the load to run with
since it shoots in your rifle. It is very lethal on Deer, Hogs, anything you would use
that round for.

Here is a great article on that very ammo from a man who has now taken over 50
head of Big Game with that load.
