I HAVE A MODEL 651-1 WITH A ROUND BUTT- THE BOOK LISTS THESE AS SQUARE BUTT ONLY THAT IS NOT THE CASE WITH THIS ONE. CAN ANYONE CLEAR THIS UP FOR ME? THANKS

Have you had the stocks off?
Did you get it used?
Could the previouse owner have had it altered?

HAVE HAD THE STOCKS OFF. THERE IS NO ALTERATION. I DON'T FIND IT IN MY BOOK WITH A ROUND BUTT. BUT I DO KNOW OF OTHER TYPES OF SMITHS THAT AREN'T IN THE BOOK EITHER. WHO KNOWS?

HUMMMMM.
I agree that All model Smiths are not uniform to the Model numbers.
Perhaps, in birth, it was a custom piece.
