Ok I've been to the range with the peepsight on the 22 mag. Definetly like the rifle and how it shoots tried 6 different types of bullets in it. Got some mixed results some good some bad some unexpected all targets were at 50 yrds. First was winchester 40 grain solid this shot the best of all with around 1", second best and this really surprised me was speers gold dot personal protection 40gr just over 1", next was federal hollow pt 40gr at about 1 1/8". This was the top 3 shooters others tested were hornady v-max 30 gr, winchester polly tip 30 gr, and federal poly tip 30 gr all at about 1 1/4", Comeing in dead last was remington poly tip don't know what it is with these but they would shoot 3 good ones then 2 bad, I'm talking 3 1/2" thought it was a flinch the first time but second group of 5 did the same so this rifle doesn't like Remingtons poly tip bullet at all. All groups were shot off sand bags at 3" black bullseye for targets. I'm sure thee is some error in the human side of things but peep sights is something I'm really familair with, I've probably logged 7,000 rounds through a peep on various rifles. Mostly military training with m-16 then target competion with 22 long rifle, a 308 browning lever action, as well as some long range shooting with a high wall 45-70.
As I stated earlier I was really surprised with the speers gold dot's performance this is a protection round that a friend asked me to try in my rifle. Now I need some field performance on gound hogs and crows.
I did have one little glitch with my peep sight I have it bottomed out as low as it will go and still shoot about 1" high. I actually have the peep spun backwards to get it to its lowest level possible. I wish it had one more thread cut on the screw for a lower adjustment.
