cast bullet for 35 herrett
« on: December 12, 2010, 07:18:55 AM »
I have two 35 herrett barrels, a 10" and a 14".  They both have .4  :o of free bore.  Is it possible to design a cast bullet with that much and not be a flying log?

If so, what would the approximate weight be?

Thanks

Those have a wonderful throat length, especially with the short Herrit cartridge neck.  Without bothering to check what bearing lengths would be, I'd say off hand the perfect bullet weight, if using an LBT mold, would probably be around 160 gr.   Send a throat slug from each to LBT with an order for a mold and I'll make you one that will be a tack driver in both guns.  If one has a larger throat than the other, I would fit the largest so you can size a little to perfect it to the smaller throat.
