Can you direct me to maps of prevailing winds for the US, by season? Thanks!

Most world atlases that I have seen have prevailing winds and ocean currents, lots of other stuff also. ear

Thanks! I've got a couple of atlases but they aren't giving me the resolution I'm looking for. This is turning out to be a vexing search because I thought it would be so easy to find something like an animated map with prevailing winds for the US by season, but I'm not able to find one.

Never looked for them. Have you tried the national weather service or NOAA?

Conan, I just typed in wind patterns in Google, and got pages of web sites. Looked like on the second page there was one with seasonal maps. gypsyman

You used to be able to get them from NOAA. They were for wherever they have weather stations. Tell speed and direction. Last time I dug around on the NOAA site I didn't see them, but I think they are hard to find.
