SUBJOE. 150 years ago neither pants or shirts had pockets. No purse for me, I have pockets. POWDERMAN. 

Nope.  Pants have had pockets since at least the early 1800s.  Maybe not patch pockets on the back, but they had pockets.  Likewise your waistcoat would have several pockets, and your coat - at least an inner breast pocket.  And, in the era when all coats had tails (think of Continental Army coats) there were pockets in the tail.

I used  my Fast Access Gun bag (fancy fanny pack, basically) for my purse - wallet, spare knife, change, various other things.  When someone objected to me calling it a purse I would say "OK, it's my FAG bag.  Is that better?"

Don't have a DEBIT card and don't want one!
It says right on the money, LEGAL FOR ALL DEBTS, I carry cash!
I use a wallet, a tri fold to be exact along with my check book and my small card wallet for my business cards and hunting license.
I use to carry them on the hip back when I rodeoed.
It aint no fun when you are bucked off and land on those things on your hip.
I now carry all these in my front pocket.
No more hurt hip, no more hurting back (not from the wallet & ect. anyway), and best of all, no one can pick pocket me when it is in the front pocket.
Well, maybe the TSA!!!  
Yes, I am old school and will remain so.
How about it, the next time you buy from one of the members here on GBO try paying them direct with a debit card.
See how that goes.

Sorry, men can carry or wear a purse.  Your "possibles bag" is a purse.  So is your haversack. If you wear full highland dress, you know that sporran literally means purse. Heck, even your wallet is a purse. Ever hear the term "cut purse?"  Yep - a thief who would quietly slit the bottom of a mans purse to remove the money from it (or would cut the belt loops on it, but that was trickier).  Only in the past 100 years or so, maybe 150, have men not carried or worn a purse. 

Back to the topic of change though, what I hate is having to convince a clerk or teller that they have given me too much back.  Once I argued with a bank teller that she had given me $100 too much.  I was this.close to saying "Fine, you're right" and walking out when the manager came over to see what the problem was.  Manager checked everything, went over it with both of us, told the teller to thank me for not letting her make a hundred dollar mistake. 

Yes men CAN carry a purse, but all the men I know don't. I call a possibles bag something I take with me when hunting with a flintlock, to carry balls, patches, powder..etc., not money, hair brushes, hand cream..etc.  Never heard of a wallet called anything other than a wallet or billfold. I refer to a purse as something women carry, and it may be the custom in Scotland for men to carry purses, but not here.

LONGTOM. Me too, I've carried a billfold since grade school. Many times I've seen guys stuff change in a pocket and also pull loose bills out of a pocket and leave part of it on the floor or ground. Billfold for me.
YEEEEESSSSSS, I carry a possibles bag for BP, but thats it, everything else goes in my billfold or pockets. POWDERMAN.

I also carry a "man purse" to carry the things I may need.  It's really a "Dell" laptop bag, but it's a purse just the same.  Especially when there's no laptop in it.

I think I'll start doing what Pat/Rick said. Start counting the change when the clerk hands it back. I know the machine is right, but the clerk could make a mistake getting it out of the drawer.
And, as a couple others mentioned, I'll stick with cash as much as possible. Much harder to trace that gun buy at the gun show. gypsyman

During the summer, fall and spring I use a "Fanny Pack". I can cram more stuff in it with the plus that I carry my back up pistol in it also. Though, I do notice that many CCW owners often make a comment to the effect of something along the lines of "whatcha got?". That, too, seems to cut a lot of the BS looks.   God Bless to all.

Here in Va. that's brandishing a weapon and will get your weapon taken, loss of carry lic and a fine . but then printing is considered the same here also. Might want to check in your neck of the woods to be safe.

Shootall: here in Indiana there is a much more open attitude on open and concealed carry. In the fanny pack here, is not Brandishment (unless you take it out and wave it around). in the pack it is "concealed" even if it is visible. In open carry, the holster is considered "the concealment". Now, sometimes you get a LEO (rookie or just a bully) that wants to make an issue out of things. Just keep cool and take  command and control of the situation courteously and stop his Crappola. If that doesn't work, DEMAND that the officer ask for a Supervisor or watch commander. In this state they MUST comply (or you will very likely own their badge) While waiting, DON'T say anything. When the Super or watch commander gets there, let him guide the questions and be courteous. I have had to do that 5 times in 40 yrs. and got to enjoy the "butt chewing" in public. The issues were always with holster "open" wear. It's simple here. you can go to the Prosecutor every year and for a small fee purchase an Indiana Criminal Code book.  Read it and learn + carry it in the car. I try not to humiliate an Officer unless it is ABSOLUTELY necessary. Most of the time when you talk with them in a courteous and knowing manner, they understand that you DO know the law. Usually it's end of discussion. Be Responsible !! God Bless to all.

That's nice , we have some really silly laws here. Can only carry in a church if it is nessary ( who decides ? ) . We can carry open if the population of the city is less than 100000. In the county suburbs next to the city its ok to open carry. You can carry open or conc. in a bar if you don't consume achl. And when it comes to long guns it gets crazy. You can carry in some counties depending on hunting season being in or not etc. Ya'll seem to have us beat on the brandishing issure. I have had to get a patrolman call in a superior officer once . He wanted to search my van . I was in high school. The van was for work not play. The officer that came was my sunday school teacher and all that was in the back of the van was the jack and spare tire . It was funny when the officer that pulled me had to write an excuse for being late to school.

Now I have a small tool bag, better shape, handy zipper, and best of all it says Craftsman prominately on the side.

I had the red and black one but it fell off the back of my GSXR and got a bit messed up so I now have a black one though I still call it my tool bag as that is what I keep in it for the most part... Heather calls it my man purse.

Receiving your change back is usually as you have all described. I even have to ask for my sales slip most times.

The thing that really irritates me is as they are craming a wad of bills and change into your hand, they say "here you go".  No thanks, thank you, nothing. "here you go". Its like you got your groceries, now get out of my sight, old man.

Besides a flame about 3 foot high, that really burns my butt.

I don't have that problem.
I open carry all the time here in VA.
Do get some strange looks and a few questions, sometimes from LEOs but never a problem.
Just make sure if it's in the cold season that your coat doesn't fall over it.
Keep it tucked behind the grip where all can see.

Open carry is different than opening a case to expose your weapon. I also open carry in Va. mostly while hunting. You do realize that in cities with over 100000 pop you can't open carry other than for work ? even with a ccw permit ? conc is ok but not open. same with a bar open carry has always been ok if you did not drink. even when ccw holders could not carry in a bar. Now its ok for both except in cities with over 100000 pop. In Chesapeake Va. you cannot even have a loaded gun in your home unless you have a ccw. unless it changed in the last couple years. I know in many places in Va. things are lax , more so if you are from there but the law is still the law and one should be very careful .CCW laws superceed all other local laws in Va. and makes it safe to carry that way.
