h&r handi rifle

i  just bought a 223 h&r rifle about 2 weeks ago wondering what twist it was a 1 and 12 or a 1and9 need to know what bullet to get a light bullet or a heavy bullit thanks anybody can help

 Most people are having luck with 53 gr to 63 gr. I have not reloaded to try for tightening up group. But mine does like the factory loads 55 gr.

It's in the FAQs and possibly the link supplied.

But all you need is a cleaning rod, jag, patch, tape and a ruler. Incert tight patch into the bore. Mark rod at junction with breech. Push it in watching for one complete revolution of the rod. Stop at one revolution, mark rod, remove from bore and measure. One twist in ??" between the marks is what your barrel is.
The faster the twist the better it will stabilize longer bullets. Bullet Weight is irrelevant. It's simply longer bullets are generally heavier.
