How many do something like this

I don't go to church but each year churches in the area have programs or whatever to help poor kids. Each year I try to do something to help. One year I bought 6 turkeys and left them to be distributed,this year I was at an auction and bought 3 new bicycles to give to kids that might not have much for Christmas. So it is never a big thing just something. I never know who gets anything and so far as I know no one knows I gave anything. Nothing wrong with knowing but it is just the way I prefer. I suspect there are alot of people here do something like this.

I am abig sponsor or the salvation army.  When they have the red kettles out. I wrap a couple 50s or a 100 in a couple dollars and drop it in. It is the easy way out, and requires very little work, but I would love to see the faces when they count what is in the kettle.  I ctch heck fo rnot writing a check to deduct at taxes, but that isnt what it is about. We also have a toys for tots program here. I purchase some gifts for that also.  It is all anonymous as they put a big trailer outside wally world and collect the gifts.  They wrap them right there as you watch.  It isn tmuch, but it is something.

Every year about this time we go through all the closets.  Anything Michelle can't wear or she don't want anymore, we box it up and take it to the women's crisis center.  Same thing with Sky's closet, since he is only 5'6" some of the teens that go to the Women's crisis with their Moms can use his clothes.  My stuff is taken to the soup Kitchen, the staff there is always looking for warm clothing to give to many of the homeless that come there.  

Every spring I get a dozen each Gozzlins and Mallards to raise.  In the Fall most of the mallards fly south, some of the Geese do as well.  But the rest that stay, Norm and I kill them and put them in the freezer.  We usually eat one, then no one wants any more.  I take seven to eight geese down to the soup kitchen a week or so before Christmas.  You should see the eyes of the staff when I bring them in.  Michelle and I used to go down and help serve meals on Christmas, but it got to be too disturbing for her.

Yep, but used to be more general. Today I have a favorite local childrens charity. Stopped giving to salvation army although they are excellent. decided to research charities an give to the one I want to support.

One of the local schools here has a bike repair shop. Kids can bring their own bikes in and work on them. A few mos. before  Christmass they gather up all the old bikes they can find and repair them and give them out as presents to kids, whose folks cant afford them. The teacher does this  on his time and spent a lot on parts and tools of his own money. The school shop was getting to small and they were trying to find more room when an unidentified donner gave 1 MILLON  DOLLARS to the program no strings attached. The kids enjoy rebuilding the bikes ffor those that dont have one.
