I see there's no moderator at this thread, I'd be mroe than happy to do the moderating! I spend my hunting offseasons fishing, especially ice fishing, I think I could get this thing going on here.

Wow has it been awhile since I looked at this forum. Just dropped in to ask for a volunteer as Moderator and found I've had one sitting here waiting for over a month. :oops: Guess I need to check in more often.

Yes I do want a moderator and so thanks for volunteering. Sorry it took me so long to realize you had.

That's alright, I'll see what I can do on this forum, but the season is pretty much shot, even in SD and MN. Let me know what you want me to do.

Bet the ice fishing season up there ain't as short as here in Bama. :-D

The only way to fish with ice here is what you have in your cooler to keep your drinks or fish cool until you get them back to shore. Now I did ONCE break ice to put a boat in on a small mountain lake. Didn't see any sign of a fish and didn't last long before I realized I'd done started fishing too early for that year.

Just make a few posts as you have time and try to drum up some interest in the forum. Dunno what the chances of that are but I'm sure there must be some anyway.

Hello all. I usually visit the trapping section, but ice fishing is my serious game. I mostly ice fish on Lake Onalaska in Onalaska, WI. We are just now getting started due to safe ice finally arriving. I fished this past weekend with great early ice success. Caught at least 200 gills/crappie/perch on Sunday alone. Most were caught in shallow water. I used #16 Marmooska jigs tipped with a waxie. I also had excellent results using a Forage Minnow in the trout color tipped with a waxie as well. The bigger gills just pounded this little jig. I will try to add more as the season progresses.
