Youth to Adult

New to the Rossi site so I thought I would post my .17hmr S.S. that I transformed
from a youth gun to an adult shooter. The stock and forend are formed out of
butternut and stained walnut with a poly finish. Butt plate is formed out of
1/4 aluminum plate with a white spacer. LOP is 14.5. Tip of Barrel is for looks only. Scope is a BSA
3.5 to 10 power. Weight is 5.5 lbs. with scope. Length is 36.5.
Any comments good , bad or ugly would be welcome. We learn
from praise and criticism. Will post range results when its gets warmer.

Great job!  What kind of material did you use on the stock and forend?  Did you start with adult Rossi stocks material or wood blanks?  I've been looking at doing the same to my youth stock, but I don't have the workspace or equipment to start from raw material.

I used a 2x6 wood board  Butternut and same on the forend. My own design.
   It was a pretty easy project. The hard part was drilling the hole.

Well done.  That's a nicer looking stock than most Rossi's originally come with.  How did you determine your dimensions, i.e. length of pull, height of comb, drop at heel, etc.?

First I drilled the hole then I measured other stocks some what and just start carving.
 Just look at the blank and tell yourself there is a stock in here some place and carve away
every thing that doesn't look like a stock or until it feels good. It takes a lot of time but
when you finish you got something to be proud of.
