Fiberglass Pack Baskets
« on: December 19, 2003, 08:11:42 AM »
What do yal think about them over wood pack baskets? I am going to get one with my fur check this year and I was thinking about a fiberglass one. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Zach, the fibertuff basket is the only basket I use.It is also the only one I sell.I had woven baskets for over 30 years,no matter how well I took care of them they did'nt last.
You are money ahead with the fiber ones--they cost more but they seem to be indestructible. No maintenance needed except for wahing them out once in awhile.   Tom

Longhunter , they are heavier than the woven ones.I am always hauling 330s and beaver in them so I really dont notice the weight of them.
The one without the lure pouch runs 49.95 plus s and h.
It does'nt take long for one to pay for itself.    Tom

Hmmmmm,You all are gettin me thinkin.Mostly I beaver ,otter and rat trap anyhow ,so usage would be about the same.My baskets get beat! This time of year they head out on the sled behind me and wind up on my back generally on the way back in.If they are that heavy shipping must kill hey? I can see how it could be better, last woven I got local was birch,ya just can't afford a good ash one anymore. If yoou can find one,and the birch just don't hold up.I got so many great places to beaver trap this year IF i could just get out to them.Maybe next week,I'm gonna start checkin some tommorow, without much weight.Gonna be snowshoein wherever I am headed now but thats ok,I enjoy that part.....

A must for water trapping

The Fiberglass (no longer made) And the Fibertuff are a must for water trappers. They keep the wet fur off your back. And dont fill up with water when you set them down.
I buy up all the old Fiberglass baskets that I find.Being a Boat Builder/Trapper I can repair them. The New Fibertuff you cant repair.
     "my Two cents"
