Can someone tell me how many different types of breech plugs are available for the Encore 209x50? I would also like to know the pros & cons of each variation. The one in my gun is a very deep concave with a very thin lip. Thanks for any info.

I understand there were three variations of the breech plug. I would say that you have the 2nd version and that was replaced with a 3rd design. The second design would result in a problem with pellets breaking when loaded against the sharp edges of the plug.
The final design went to a much wider lip and less deep dish to prevent pellet damage.

I don't know about the first but the second and third gen. plugs I have here. The second gen has a shallow (1/8in or less deep) concave about 1/4in diameter in the center with a flat shoulder(not avery good design, just my opinion). The third differs by having a deep ( 3/8in roughly) concave with a smaller shoulder. It seems to be more accurate in my gun. I never would have thought that a breech plug would make a difference, but it did.

The original poster has the first generation and probably the best of the lot for loose powder shooters.
