Polaris 600/700 Recall
« on: January 05, 2004, 01:55:47 PM »
If you own a 600/700 any year you need read this, if you ride in freezing weather you need get to dealer and get the update done, they are supposed to contact you. But save yourself all the headaches. Refer him to service bulletin #S-03-05.

OK GANG have what I have been waiting for at last. I was e-mailed a copy of a service bulletin by POLARIS. Since these are supposed to be confidential and for dealers only and copy righted and all that I will just give you the JIF of what it says in a nut shell.

All 2002/2003 600-700's are covered by this and certain 04 600/700 I have the serial # for 04 either mail me yours or get to the dealer have it checked. They are supposed to contact you on this it came out 12/11/03 I haven't heard anything from my dealer bet none of you have either. This covers any machine that is ridden where they have a chance of being in below freezing weather.Talking about condensation that can accumalate in the crankcase breather hose, it may freeze cause water in oil and pressure build up in the crank case. Recall seeing some of these machine that had blew the oil and water seal, here is the answer. I wondered where the oil stain was coming that was on the side of my motor, now I know.

Any way what POLARIS is saying is that EXCESS PRESSURE and WATER in the crankcase could cause oil loss and severe engine damage.

Here's the 2004 serial model link-

I copied and pasted this from another forum, so be sure to check with your dealer to see if your quad is included in the recall.
