Big Fat Possum
« on: December 18, 2003, 02:24:56 AM »
Hello & Good Morning:

Well, I finally got him !!! He was a big un, too. This wily ole Possum had raided the pet food bowls every nite on the back patio. Every time I'd get the back door open, he'd flee to the darkness outside and into the woods.

So, the wife insisted I had to get him, so we came up with a game plan. She gave me enough time to go out the front door, and with my M-99 Tech Force 22 caliber, (no scope yet), I set up my ambush. She came out the back door with a flashlight, and also turned on the outside lights. She yelled, he's under the bench where the potted plants are. Debbie said, looks like he's going to stay, so ease on back here.

I saw him under the table, got the sights lined up the best I could under the circumstances, and head shot him. The 22 caliber Tech Force killed as well as a 22 Long Rifle best I could tell. Can't kill them no deader than he was. I shot him with the Beeman Crow Magnum pellets, and am impressed with their killing power.

He was a big boar possum, as big as they come in Louisiana. So, this ends my latest  "expedition" with my air rifles. Hope yall have some good stories on here soon. Miss hearing from all of you.

Take care, shoot safe, God Bless !!

a quality Air rifle is very powerful. Next to the cheapo 30 dollar "scoped" BB/pellet guns .177

i had an encounter when I  was younger with a possum and the cheapo model mentioned above. I will just say that it took too many HEAD SHOTS for a clean kill. I knew i had made a mistake, because I was undergunned BIG TIME. I learned that lesson early. Congrats on your adventure.
Cheers,
