I posted these in a different thread, but I had to show him off here
I got this bruiser at 7:30 this morning. 236 yrds with my 270. I had seen this buck in Oct 2008, but never saw him again after that one day. We have a feeder with a trailcam about 70 yards from where I finally shot him and never got a pic and no one had seen him all year. I could make out a big deer at daylight this morning, but once it got light enough to see what he was he would never come closer than about 215 yards and would never give me a shot. I waited forever for him to turn, and finally took a quartering away shot at 236 yards just as he was about to leave my sight. He ran off the sendero (a dirt jeep trail in this case). I walked to where he was standing and saw no blood, but was relieved to find him lying less than 10 yards from where I had shot him. The 130 gr powerpoint entered just at the last rib and took out both lungs and put a large hole through the heart. Not DRT, but pretty darn close. Inside spread was 23 inches.
