Bullet lube

I mixed up a batch of Gotofeo's lube and used it to lube up some 380 grain REAL bullets I made for my .54 cal. GPH. That stuff work really well. I was very impressed.

It is a recipe for a lube put on the board a good while ago by Gatofeo. It is one part paraffin wax, one part sheep tallow and one half part beeswax. Go back through the archives and you will find the post with full instructions on how to make it.

Charlie, I've also used lanolin, from the drug store type, in place of the sheep tallow, depending on what time of the year it is will depend, on the portions of parafin, and bee's wax. I shoot CAS, using BP, (frontiersman) and I can easily keep my '73 free from excess powder fouling during a regular match, that's 50 to 60 rounds for 6 stages, using this concoction. Also I don't have to worry about my lube going rancid after sitting around. Where do ya find the sheeps tallow? RR :D

Thanks Charlie, after I posted that I thought sure as the dickens, somebody was gonna say from a sheep.
Have ya had any problem with it going rancid? I usually load up about 200 rounds of BP for CAS, at a time, and some times it might sit idle for few months. RR :D

River runner I do not know how long this brew will last. I am pretty new at this black powder stuff myself. I have found that most of what you see on this forum is nothing more than folks wanting to help us new folks. There is a lot to be learned here and it is all for free!
