My Pennsylvania grandfather had one of the older ones in 22 LR (rechambered to WMR)/410 and I used it a bunch when I was a kid. Shot my first groundhog, first grouse, and first deer with it (deer was a crop damage permit doe in the spotlight).
The 24 went on to other cousins and I haven't even seen it in some time. I've been on and off thinking about picking one up for years, so long that the darned things got expensive. Lately a 30-30/20 seemed like just the ticket, or maybe a 357/20, but I couldn't stumble on one and internet auction prices were crazy.
But today I got lucky and it's on its way my way. Not as versatile as a 30-30 or 223 or 222 but it'll do to scratch the itch and maybe shoot a PA fall turkey.
