Rossi M62
« on: December 07, 2010, 05:27:10 AM »
Just picked up a used M62 22LR pump rifle. Wanted one for some time, but could not find what I wanted. Most all were pretty well beat up. This one is like new with the octagon barrel. Took it out and shot it last weekend and seems very accurate and the action is very smooth. I did not shoot long as it was 6 degrees out and the wind chill was below zero. I think this may be my new squirrel/woods walking gun.

Just wondering if anyone else has one and any insight you can give me into them?

No I Dont have a Rossi I do have a stainless Taurus 72 SS/C stainless / carbine in .22mag of 3 .22mag long guns I own this one is consistenly the most accurate of them.
seems with this particular model barrel length does not affect the range of the bullet, have a Stevens Favorite in .22mag that has a longer barrel but the 72 will throw lead farther...??
They perform great in the cold........thers quite a few in my area as the gun shop cant keep em in the rack for long, Taurus has discontined the 72's and only Mfg the 62 the last I knew, the new Taurus hammer safty requires a funkey  key to lock the gun's hammer to render it safe, also has a added safety attop the bolt to block the fireing pin, still has the 1/2 cock
Ive seen old Rossi's made before the import rules went stupid, should be a good solid gun.
You stated all the guns that you looked at were beat/worn, for the money you get a All steel retro hunting classic
From what Ive seen of my 2006 era 72 the only plastic on it is the buttplate.
Never seen bad wood on the brazil made guns + made of all steel...havent seen any potmetal on any them.

My wife has shot the bee's out of here rossi pump now for abut 15 years at her metal flip target . You can see the wear groves in the target were the plates have fallen with thousands of rounds over the years , but that little rossi just asks to be cleaned and oiled over the years since we bought it used .

So if you take a bit of care after an outing , I know your going to enjoy your investment  ;D
