His energy czar promised to raise taxes on gasoline by 15% in order to get our prices up to European levels, which were $7-8 per gallon when he made that promise in 2008. This was to motivate us to use alternative fuels.

The current administrations policies have directly impacted the price of gas, raising it 55%, per the studies. Bush lowered it 8% over the same period in his administration, and Clinton lowered 2% over his administration.

If raising fuel prices is all it takes for us to use alternate fuels, should the DOE shutdown with loss of pensions for not doing anything?   ;)  Apparently the money WASTED on the DOE should have went to put solar power on EVERY house in America, or at the very least to R&D for an electric vehicle to include the rights to Bolivia's lithium reserves (japan got that most recently). The current and past administrations only understand money, and not neccessarily using that money for a real plan, but for wage and pension payout.

Do you guys think he will have the coal mining industry shut down in time for all the electric cars needing charged?

He won't shut coal down; he just authorized the construction of 20 new Navy ships! In keeping with the trend, I
won't be suprised if they're coal fired/steam driven :) [that may be a joke only old sailors/marines get]

Like Van Jones said, they are going to bring this country to it's knees so they can rebuild it properly.
Where is old Joe when we really need him?  Alaska Independence    Calling Illegal Immigrants "Undocumented Aliens" is like calling Drug Dealers "Unlicensed Pharmacists"
What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.
