savage and marlin .22 mag
« on: December 24, 2003, 11:43:00 AM »
Im looking to buy a .22 mag for all the coyotes and coons around and to do something after deer season because i get a little depressed. How accurate are the marlins and savage rifles. Are there better rifles that are under 500$. What are some good rimfire scopes for under 200$.

Boy you are asking something that is going to get lots of different answers. I have a Henry lever 22 mag with a leopold compact 4x on it and I love the gun. With 11 in the tube and a fast lever it would be great for coyotes. That said I do not know what kind of action you want. A ruger 10/22 mag in a semi would allow fast second shots. For a bolt a CZ would be my choice though some like the Ruger 77. IF you have 500 for a rifle and 200 for a scope I would buy something if you can in the 400 dollar range if you can and use the rest of the money towards your scope for a better scope. I am sure others will come up with more ideas for you I guess the best thing to do is go to a shop and find one that fits you and you like. Jim
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.
