First home made Handi stock
« on: January 08, 2011, 03:03:18 PM »
Got a new Handi in 357 mag on Thursday. It had the black synthetic stock on it and thought I would try making a wood stock for it out of some walnut I had. This is a rifle I want to ream to Maxi for deer season next year. Just wanted to see what you guys thought about the stock. Open for all ideas and thoughts.

Thanks Brian.

sorry for the blurry pic was done with a phone.

NICE!!!! :)

I really like the way that looks. I've been considering a full-length stock on a Pardner shotgun, just for fun. Did you stay with just one screw attaching it, or is the end of the forearm anchored in some way?

Very well done, sir!

The stock is built for a righty the recoil pad is offset to the right of center. As of right now the fore arm is only attached with the one screw. I was thinking of making a barrel strap of some sorts or maybe even a internal strap tapped to accept another screw more forward. Thanks for the nice words from you guys. Anybody hear if the Maxi reamer made its way back yet?

Thanks Brian

Have to thank Tim again for the fore arm measurements.

Nice going.  A lot of work huh?  ;)
Try to look unimportant.   Your enemy might be low on ammo.

Only Handi so far is a 375 JDJ.

It's work I guess but hard to classify it as work when you enjoy it so much. Plus I think the wood is just so much more attractive than plastic. I say I had about 10 hours in those 2 pieces.

very nice.  Is there a place that has a walk through to making such a stock?  I have seen a couple full length stocks on here before and I kinda like the looks of them, and was kinda wanting one for my .223.

Thanks,
Levi

My friend, with that stock the guys at the range would think you had a $1000.00 rifle...not a Handi...great job!

I hate to be a wet blanket, but GBO rules don't allow buying and selling in discussion forums except by paid advertisers, selling in the classifieds is limited to personally used items, not something made for resale, please refrain from making offers to buy or sell.  ;)
