H&R 45-70 Trapdoor

Picked up my H&R 45-70 Trapdoor Springfield Replica this afternoon.  With the exception of the Breech Block it is identical to the wife's H&R Springfield muzzleloadder.  Good looking gun, previous owner said he only shot it once, looks it too.  It is the cavelry model with saddle ring on the left side and fixed rear sight.  We have a Black Powder shoot tomorrow, I may take it down there and give it a shot or two.

I'll post pictures if I can find my camera.  Four digital cameras in this house and right now all four are missing.

An 1884 mdl, 'sporterized' and still with the Buffington sight followed me home from the gunshow yesterday. I just popped a few off out back and she be a shooter, I think. (BTW, 12deg. here in WI and we do BPCR monthly too)
It isnt a collectable with its cut down stock and reblued barrel to 23 1/2", but has nice lines and looks pretty good for over 100yrs. old.
What is it about these old guns............
Hope yours works good SD and dont shiver to stay warm, it ruins the groups ;)!

Hay, it's only two below this morning.  Looks like a good day to be outside.  After the shoot going up the Steese highway.  Got a report that the Caribou are all over the road up there at 82 mile.  That means wolves will be hanging around.  Maybe a good day for shooting.
