It appears they would approve of disarming the law abiding public. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

Seems they too have taken the turn the cheek concept to silliness as well. Praying away bad people has the same effect as making laws against crime. Do they think that pacifism and prayer will stop the islamic take over of the world? what will they fight with? Pleas and cries for mercy while their heads are being seperated from their infidels bodies? I know some catholic boys who will not give their guns up, regardless of the Popes message.

It's consistent with the addition of pollution, causing social injustice and being wealthy to the list of deadly sins. I'm sure there are some who believe firearms possession is up there with murder, idolatry and abortion. The days of direct confrontation are past; far easier to boil the frog slowly. Look how easy it was to mainstream homosexuality and global warming  in just a decade of media; it'll take that to mainstream electric cars, and gun control but they'll do it because it's easier and more effective to slowly, gently propagate an idea ... especially if the church helps.

Sadly there are some who will go along with it because of church policy. I believe our churches will be targeted by the anti 2nd folks. It would not fly in my area, but it might in the cities. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

When I was growing up they had no problem taking a known pedophile priest and transferring him to my church to "make the problem go away". Said priest then in turn molested a bunch of boys at my church including my closest cousin, basically ruining his life. Now they're going to try and tell us we shouldn't have guns? They ought to take a look in the mirror for a change or maybe read Luke 22:36-38
"Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves."

---- William Pitt (the Younger), Speech in the House of Commons, November 18, 1783

No surprise there. They don't believe in self defense except for the pope. It's OK for him to have armed guards and to kill anyone trying to get close to him without permission but not OK in their eyes for you or me to protect our own lives.

That's the reason I didn't choose the Methodist Church when I started going.  Armed and Baptist, be afraid, be very afraid! :o

The comments section to the original web sight support our common view defending our second ammendment rights.
The church deals in theory and in a perfect world you wouldn't need a gun to defend yourself with. However, this is not a perfect world and we still have a right to have guns even if it was perfect.
This is a departure from the crusades when the pope authorized expanding christianity by force, similar to what muslims are trying now. History repeats itself. Keep your swords and guns.
Yes, I was raised a Catholic, but for reasons of my own, I no longer support the church.
Nice post powderman.
