Archaeology magazine March/April 2011

My issue just arrived with an article by Jarrett Lobell, "Pieces of History"; On one of Britain's most famous battlefields.

Early gun fragments hint at a new style of warfare. Pieces of cast bronze cannons were analyzed and shot constructed with a cast iron cube for a core, contained in a poured lead shell.  Lead spattered upon impact but with this construction, the iron kept on going to smash what it hit.

You may be able to raise the issue  with http://www.archaeology.org/

Often attributed to Mark Twain - I have no respect for someone who only knows one way to spell a word.

Tim: Twain also said, "The difference between the right word and the almost right word is the difference between lightning and lightning bug".

As evidenced by the fellow who applied for the position of warehouse manager (Madison WI 1968 if I recall correctly) but spelled it 'whorehouse manager.  :o

RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

The one thing that you can almost always rely on research leading to, is more research.

The story came from the guy at the employment agency.   ;D

There are a few cat houses here, though  - but all of them are for the 4-legged ones.
