WEATHER IN THE SOUTHEAST
« on: January 10, 2011, 04:36:11 AM »
Got up this morning to see you folks got hammered a bit by the bad stuff.
Hope everybody at GB's place is ok and cozy----don't move around too much--it looks pretty scary for the South.
Blessings

Life is good in Middle Alabama.
They don't make snow day days up at work.
Got a generator.
Full refrigerator.
Microwave.
Gas grill.
Short list of inside to-do's so we don't get stir crazy.

Greatest risk is that the cable is out at 7:30 pm.

Heard there is a huge Auburn pep rally at the Birmingham airport that might last til Tuesday.
The difference between people who do stuff and people who don't do stuff is that the people who do stuff do stuff.

Without reading the OP...the answer is:
"Yes, We have some!"

Now isn't it just "on par" for the Global Warming folks?  I am sure they have some Junk Science to explain our current SOUTHERN deep freeze.

The Ice was so deep on my front porch that I almost could not get my screen door open.
It was the early 1970s the last time anything like this has happened here.

No doubt we'll hear from somebody like Al Gore about this weather. Thing is, I can remember back when we were suppose to be going thru a new ice age,(70's I believe) and Anchorage,Alaska had a warmer couple days than alot of Florida. Anchorage was in the 40's, while Florida orange growers had their smudge pots going, to try and keep the fruit from freezing. Stuff happens!! gypsyman p.s. All you southern boys drive carefull now, I know most of you don't have the experience as some of us yankee's do!!

Here in north MS we got 9" to 10" of snow Sunday night, The roads were bad early Monday, they got the main roads cleared, but the back roads were still bad today, 12-13 tonight, high next few days in the 20's, so this mess will be here for a few days, I am going to deer camp and hunt a few days.

They only had 5 to show up for the Wednesday Golf game----and they didn't play---never got out of the 30's.
I know, that ain't cold to some of you boys----but to most of our boys that is way too cold.
Today it is still in the thirties.
Little early in the year for this kinda weather---may indicate an early spring.

It's 24 below this morning.  Left the S-10 outside last night, Wife plugged it in this morning when she left for work.  Got back late from a Game Board A/C meeting, and did not feel like moving my snow Machine out of the garage where it had been thawing out.  Had left the snow machine outside without a cover and had seven inches of snow on it, so I decided to bring it inside to melt the snow and ice off.

Sorry to hear about the bad weather down there.  My Mom and Dad are hybernating till it's gone.  My sister-in-law in Georgia is saying she wants to come back to Alaska.  She says our hosues are warmer during the winter.  Had fuel oil delivered yesterday, 324 gallons, over $1,000.00.  That hurts.   Watch out for the ice, it's a killer.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

I heard a quick little blurb this morning on the radio that claimed last year was the warmest on record.  Really, where was I?  How is the whole Earth's temperature taken and by who?  Is it someone with an agenda?  And if last year was the warmest, I don't recall anything remarkable about it.

I also heard a person on the radio who says he is a scientific climatologist, who claims we are headed into at least a minor ice age.  He expects up to 4000 feet of ice to cover New York City in a very short period of time.  He also said that during the last ice age that several thousand feet of ice covered where Seattle is, but 150 miles south of there it was only a couple of degrees colder than normal.  Damn, I'm only about 120 miles south of Seattle.
