load for 180 gr GC, 357 Max
« on: January 19, 2011, 12:06:56 PM »
I have a (new to me) Contender, 12" 357 max and am looking for a good starting load for H100, Lil Gun, or Reloader 7 for 180 gr gas checked lead bullets.

None of my manuals have info for that weight of lead bullet. Haven't checked the latest Lyman manual, but that wt is not mentioned in Lyman 47.

Any help appreciated.

www.hodgdon.com has loads listed for FMJ 180 gr bullets. Using jacketed data for lead bullets is ok as you have less pressure. Using lead data for jacketed could lead to some seriously bad juju.

Any load for jacketed bullets is safe for cast bullets of the same weight, the reverce is not true though.
