slug barrel on a Pardner?
« on: January 24, 2011, 04:36:07 PM »
Read the FAQ's, sorry if this is a dumb question.

If I understand this correctly I can buy a 20 gauge Pardner like this:

to use for upland game etc.  Then I can get a rifled barrel that just swaps in, and use it for deer.

Is that right?  Am I missing anything?

You can get a slug barrel for it. Check the classifieds here when you're ready to get one... it'll probably save you some money and you won't have to send your gun off to be fitted. It's fairly easy to fit a second hand barrel and alot of times they fit fine with no mods at all.
Most importantly... there's no such thing as a dumb question around here. ;)

Thanks for the reply.

How does the barrel actually connect to the receiver?

When barrels need to be fitted how is this done?

Thanks again, Matt.

The barrel has an attached underlug with a radius machined in the underlug. This radius matches up to a hinge pin that is .375 diameter. The forend attaches to the barrel and prevents the barrel from falling off when the barrel is tipped forward to access the round in the barrel chamber. On the breech end of the barrel their is a latch on the receiver, and each barrel has a latch shelf that holds the barrel to the breech face when in the "closed" position.
