I hope I'm not too far off topic..

Can anyone tell me what the modern name is for "Salt of Nickel"?  I would like to make up a solution to dye cartridge brass red.  The formula calls for Potassium Chlorate, Nickel Carbonate, Salt of Nickel and Distilled Water.  This formula was taken out of Clyde Bakers "Modern Gunsmithing" book.

I'll bet Mr. Felix could help me.  Are you still out there?

id be careful that is actually corrosion you are doing to the cases and my weeken them.

Waksupi...thanks for the lead to Mr. Felix.  I got the info I was looking for at the web site he now frequents.  The challenge will be finding the chemicals in small enough quantity for a trial run.  I don't expect this to be a commercial venture and most chem supply houses have pretty high minimums.
