Interesting idea.  Anybody else try it?

I find the grips a little too skinny.  Think the Packmeyer's would improve matters?
Not for me!  Horrible grips.  JMHO.  There are lots of better grips out there.......

Now, one can use .32-20 brass in Ruger's .30 Carbine calibre New Model Blackhawk.  I can't quickly find the data,
however it's out there on the Internet.  I've been told it works very well.  I believe the .32-20's rim is too large
in diameter to fit in a Old Model's cylinder but with the "non-counterbored" New Model chambers all is well.

flatgate
I've heard of people using the 32-20 brass but I just don't understand why.  First off, it can only be done with old model blackhawks with recessed cylinders.  Secondly, the 32-20 brass is not as strong or thick as some of the varieties of 30 carbine brass.  Lastly, 30 carbine brass is hugely abundant and can even be found on the ground at most ranges while 32-20 brass is for the most part scarce and never found on the ground at ranges.

I just ran a stick of Win.32-20 into a .30C die and measured against my 32-20 once fire in a 32-20 Colt's Army Spl.
It is pretty hard to find much difference. Now, just so no-one gets the wrong idea, this DOES NOT mean I will ever put a .30C into a 32-20 chambered gun!!! From these measurements the rimless .30C might actually fit, then somebody would be tempted to pull the trigger.
You know......." it dropped in, I was there, it was there, so I.............".

Could one use the 30 carbine as varmint gun, shoot a ground hog, bag a turkey, wack a fox or coyote type gun?

My30 carbine blackhawk shoots cloverleafs with 90grain 32 loads at a bit less than 2000fps. Nice and accurate.

I have messed around with using 32-20 brass in the 30 carbine NM blackhawk.  It works but is soooo thin that its very easy to crush a case.  Don't really get the point of doing it.  I too found that the solution to case sticking lies in the crimp. never have that problem unless I use factory loads. these days my usual load is a lee 113rf and a little trail boss powder. great small game load and can roller. accurate and no leading (no checks either) For me its best use is as a step up from the 22 mag and not so much as a 357 mag. level load.
