Help a friend, value question

I'm trying to help a buddy decide if a late 60's model 700 .270 in pretty decent shape with a 3-9x Bushnell Trophy is worth $500 or not. I'm not too up on Remington used prices.
TIA!

I'd attempt to purchase the rifle without that scope. This will tell you just how proud the seller is of his scope. Then compare the rifle price with other Remington 700's on the used market.

Thanks, I checked with one of my customers who has an FFL and we looked in his book. The guy is a little overpriced on the gun.
