What does everyone think of how the supreme court ruled today on the campaign finance law? It won't be long until the thought police are knocking on the door.

They already are. What is "Hate Crime" if not Thought Crime?

I was recently told that if you question the security practices out loud at an airport you can be arrested.

People need to wake up and so-called conservatives need to realize that we giving away our liberty at an exponential rate.

AMEN. I never thought it would be "conservatives" that do it. The Patriot Act (I and II) is driving yet one more nail in coffin. The biggest problem is that "a terrorist" is not defined. You and I could be labled a terrorist for speaking out against the government or holding to Biblical and Constitutional beliefs.
 Federalist no. 8
The Consequences of Hostilities Between the States
Hamilton for the New York Packet, Tuesday, November 20, 1787.

4th paragraph
This picture is not too highly wrought; though, I confess, it would not long remain a just one. Safety from external danger is the most powerful director of national conduct. Even the ardent love of liberty will, after a time, give way to its dictates. The violent destruction of life and property incident to war, the continual effort and alarm attendant on a state of continual danger, will compel nations the most attached to liberty to resort for repose and security to institutions which have a tendency to destroy their civil and political rights. To be more safe, they at length become willing to run the risk of being less free.

The Supreme court completely fouled up that ruling.

The sad truth is that we parted ways with the constitution when we let the federal government get huge during the New Deal.

Thus far we have not seen a high level of abuse regarding the Patriot Act as yet.  However the potential is there for tremendous abuse.

Can you imagine President Wesley Clark (anyone clearor Hillary Clinton (who already has a reputation for using law enforcement against her political enemies) with that kind of authority?  It frightens the hell out of me.

The sad thing is President Bush should have never signed the campaign finance reform bill. He said he would let the courts overturn it; but they are so unpredictable you can never tell how they are going to vote. With a Republican house and senate, it should have never made it to the oval office.
From what I've heard about Wesley Clark, he is a madman. None of the nine dwarfs that are running have any sense. If one had to win, I would hope it would be Lieberman. Dean is a madman also. He gets mad and looks like he is going to have the big one.

There are rumors about Clark's involvement at Waco. A lot of these rumors were circulated by the European Extreme left while Clark was in command of Operations in Kosovo.  I don't know how reliable they are.

Dbuz, I think that our current president needs a lesson in latin.  "Veto" means "I Forbid"
