new ramrod
« on: January 27, 2011, 10:50:24 AM »
bought one of mr. hubbard's excellent ramrods. sent it on out even tho' i told him i would order closer to check time. haven't had a chance to use it yet but already love it. just ain't no comparison. only question is: starter tip unscrews easily. has anyone ever had one come off and the rod go up into the other half? and if so is it hard to get it back out? thanks for listenin' and have a good'en neighbors, bubba.

bubba.50,

Haven't lost the small rod in the large one yet but the tip does tend to not stay tight.  Guess I should loctite the tip or maybe teflon tape so I don't have an issue hunting.

I just mailed my MO to Ben Hubbard for one of his ramrods.  I got it in the mail yesterday and It is really nice (just as I expected)!  I was thinking about putting a couple of turns of teflon tap on my tip to!  The thought of looking for it in the woods with a foot of snow on the ground doesn't sound fun.  Can't wait to try it at the range.

That loading jag is threaded to couple the two rod sections when retracted.  Lose the jag and it's a problem.  I put thread-lock on the 10-32 threads keeping the jag on the small rod.
