sling swivel stud for Pachmayr grips
« on: January 27, 2011, 09:51:05 AM »
I have a Presentation grip for my Contender, and I'm interested in getting a sling swivel stud for it.  Is there a source for these anywhere, or do you have to homebrew them anymore?  I was wondering if the rubber was solid enough to maybe screw one in with the coarse (wood) threads.   Anybody tried this?

Thanks for the reply, Deacon.  I couldn't find them on Midway's site, but looks like I might have to put a WTB thread in the classifieds and keep an eye out for one (or make one myself).

Anybody got a link?  I just searched through 14 pages of sling stuff, plus a Contender search and pulled up nothing.   :(

Unfortunately I just threw a couple away last week or I could have sent you one as a gift.   And so it goes...

Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

I put an Uncle Mike's machine screw swivel stud on my Contender's grip cap.  However, you'd have to do some carving on the Pachmayr grips, I believe.  Details here: http://www.castbullet.com/srsling.htm

I just can't trust the fate of my Contender on a sling stud attached to the grip cap.  I know some switch to a metal cap and upgrade to longer screws....but they are still small wood screws...screwed into wood. :-\

Three small wood screws....  Mine has held 100% for over 30 years.
