anyone use 265gr interlock
« on: February 18, 2011, 04:47:20 PM »
Just picked up some Hornady sabots (50 cal, .430) and some 265gr FN interlocks.  Any one been using this combo??  I will start with 90gr Triple 7 FFFG, and work my way up.  I figure that the 265 FN was designed for the 444 marlin @ 2300 fps, so it should be good in a muzzleloader @ 1900-2000 fps.  They work pretty good in my 445 Supermag loads, so its worth a shot...

I have been using 245gr powerbelts, but I'm a little in question on there terminal performance, as the deer I shot last season, rolled over dead, but did not get good penetration @ 50 yards.  Big hole in the shoulder, but bullet fragmented, and did not exit.  Almost looked like I shot her with a varmint load.  I haven't thought much about it until I read a couple similar stories the last couple days, and wondered what the outcome would have been if it was a good 300lbs buck in front of me.  I know the Hornady 265gr will have no issues in that department, just hope they are accurate....(fingers crossed)
