Is she 4 sale ?
Somebody asked this before. My answer was "there is over 100 hours in the barrel alone; how much is my time worth to you?" :-)
Honestly, I can't see how people make these things one at a time for sale. They are making dirt wages if they would figure out how much time they have invested. Maybe Powder Keg could give you a quote on a similar one.
My plan is to give this one to a good friend when its finished.

They finally recovered all of their photos over at the Chaski machinist forum so I went back and re-addressed all of the missing images in the
Making a 24 pounder
thread. The images are all links so it's easier on dialup users.

If you are interested in my trunnion pocket milling setup, I stumbled over a picture of it and it's now posted
here
. A collett indexer on the right and the footstock on the left. 2x4's and clamps are an anti-rotation brake.

Well, the 24 pounder barrel will not have to worry about external rust any more. Click the image for a larger one.

Absolutely beautiful George...great job. How about a picture with a powder can so we can get some scale.
So when do you start on the truck?

rifleshooter2 ,
Where else would you get a drill that long, Ebay. I got one long enough for $18 something shipped. gun drills also sometimes go cheap as well.
Or you could always follow Powderkegs thread on drilling, good method.

That one was purchased new from Enco. I think we paid about $125 for it five years ago. The price has gone up since then.
Click the image for the whole ad.
So when do you start on the truck?
It's already about half done. The wood pieces are cut but the vertical bolt holes need to be drilled.

Besides the requirement for extremely slow infeed, the coolant system is quite expensive and something of a pain in the arse to use. If I were doing this on a continuing basis, I would, but current utilization does not justify it.

The future of the lassengunsmithing.com site is up in the air right now as the host has suspended it. So I have moved some of the data there to gunneyg.info. The 24 pounder "thread" is available
here
